When Kecimpring Enters a Five Star Hotel Restaurant…


BANDUNG, KOMPAS.com – The people of Bandung City and West Java in general are certainly familiar with kecimpring, a typical Bandung snack made from cassava.

This snack continues to survive in the center of Bandung, which is known as an innovative culinary center.

In fact, in 2023, it will be the city with the best culinary delights in Southeast Asia based on TasteAtlas 2023/2024.

Nationally, kecimpring has also “boomed” thanks to the soap opera Preman Pensiun.

Because Kang Mus, one of the main characters of the soap opera, is said to have turned into a kecimpring MSME entrepreneur.

The basic ingredient for kecimpring is cassava which is mashed with complementary spices. Then it is molded and dried in the sun until dry, before being fried into crackers.

Present at Five Star Hotels

Now the development of kecimpring has been very rapid. From home-based MSMEs, kecimpring is now even served in five-star hotels in Bandung.

Kompas.com found this while having dinner at The Gaia Hotel Bandung which is located on Jl. Dr. Setiabudi No. 430, Ledeng, Kec. Cidadap, Bandung City, West Java.

“While waiting for food, we have this (Kecimpring), sir,” said one of the waiters at the Gaia Semeja Asian Kitchen restaurant, Wednesday (6/11/2024).

Like crackers in general, Kecimpring has a crunchy texture and delicious taste.

It’s not surprising that many people like Kecimpring. Even unfried kecimpring are often used as souvenirs when visiting Bandung.

Meanwhile, Gaia Semeja Asian Kitchen is a restaurant that is famous for its Asian food menu, including Indonesian food.

For example Gejrot Tofu, Fried Lumpia, Maranggi Sate, Madura Sate, Fried Rice and many more.
