Unilever Food Solution (UFS), a food service brand, provides an overview of future culinary trends.

“UFS leveraged global data and input from chefs to create a report that highlights eight key trends that will shape culinary experiences around the world next year,” said Vangie Hu, Regional Marketing Director of UFS Southeast Asia, in an official statement received CNNIndonesia.comMonday (7/10).

This culinary trend will be introduced further at the 2024 Worldchefs Congress & Expo on 21 October 2024 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

1. More than just taste

The desired culinary experience is more than just taste. Culinary connoisseurs want surprises and challenges for every sense. The world is full of sensory stimulation so culinary creatives must be able to push boundaries and concoct dishes that exceed expectations.

2. The story behind the food

Local wealth in question is wealth in your own country. The kitchen is a place to strengthen relationships with the surrounding community.

The kitchen is not only supplied with raw materials, but also stories so that food from each region has its own story.

The low waste menu trend helps chefs to really use raw materials and resources wisely so that there is minimal waste. Cooks also have a practical guide to the importance of a sustainable kitchen.

4. Home-cooked meals remain relevant

Modern food menu concoctions do not necessarily replace existing home menus or classic menus. People are still looking for the same flavors, but still want a touch of newness.

This trend is not about modernizing classic dishes, but infusing culinary stories, cultural heritage and a touch of nostalgia into dishes.

5. Plant-based dishes are increasingly popular

Many people are increasingly interested in consuming more plant-based products without going completely vegetarian or vegan. This trend is a great opportunity to provide diverse menu choices, reducing operational costs and carbon footprint.

6. Culinary experience in togetherness

Eating with loved ones is indeed a moment to look forward to. The warm atmosphere of the dining table in a relaxed atmosphere is a place to create joy, laughter and connection.

This is an opportunity for culinary business players to innovate to provide unique experiences that redefine the meaning of togetherness.

7. Vegetables are rich in color

Vegetables are increasingly popular and are often the main stars in dishes. This trend encourages chefs to process vegetables into special dishes that are rich in color.

8. Healthy eating patterns

Nowadays, people are increasingly aware of health. It is hoped that through a healthy diet, people can live long, free from disease. Culinary connoisseurs want to dine without anxiety and guilt.

Cooks need to present dishes with minimal saturated fat, lean meat and lighter sauces. When you eat happily, the food will also give you energy and make you feel better.
