The trend of drinking coffee mixed with lemon is claimed by many people to be able to lose weight quickly. Even though the scientific facts are not like that.

The coffee trend continues to develop into a lifestyle, creating many combinations of coffee mixed with various food ingredients. For example, coffee mixed with oatmeal, even lemon slices.

Reporting from the Factly website (06/11), the trend of drinking coffee with lemon is claimed by many people on social media to help cut body fat.

This claim is strengthened by a video showing that a woman can lose up to tens of kilograms of weight because of this coffee concoction. Complete with the claim that the doctor recommended it.

After further investigation, it turns out that there are no facts and scientific evidence that show that lemon water can reduce weight.

Indeed, several studies have concluded that regular coffee consumption can help reduce body fat slightly, but there are many side effects.

Until now there is no real evidence of the effect of drinking coffee and lemon on weight loss.

According to research from Harvard, drinking four cups of coffee a day can reduce body fat levels by up to 4%. Derric Alperet, one of the researchers concluded that this effect results from caffeine which can stimulate the body’s metabolic system, thereby helping the body burn calories and reduce fat levels.

However, health expert Alexander Sowa from NYU School of Medicine, explained that no doctor would recommend coffee for dieting, because its effects are not good for the body.

Likewise with research on lemons for weight loss. From one study in 2008, it showed that lemon polyphenol levels can reduce fat. But when tested on mice, no one has been able to prove that lemons can help reduce fat in humans.

“The fact is that lemon water will not burn fat or other ingredients for weight loss. In essence, this water makes people feel fuller, and ultimately people don’t eat or snack,” concluded Beth Czerwony, a well-known dietitian.
