Jakarta (ANTARA) – Warung Tegal or often called warteg is a mainstay place to eat for almost everyone, especially those looking for home cooking.

Apart from affordable prices, the food menu provided is also very diverse. The portions given are larger than other places to eat so your stomach will be fuller.

If you are too lazy to cook or want cheap food, warteg can also be the right choice to buy food.

With a variety of foods available, there are foods that are many people’s favorites and can be an option when they are confused about choosing food.

Here are eight warteg foods that are many people’s favorites and can also be an option when you’re saving money.

1. Eggs

Eggs are a side dish that is always available in food stalls. Some wartegs often provide various variants of processed eggs.

For spicy lovers, balado eggs could be a food menu choice. The spicy taste of balado seasoning makes eggs a delicious side dish to accompany rice.

Apart from balado eggs, warteg usually also provides sunny side up eggs and variations of omelettes. A menu with eggs can be an option when you are saving money, however, you still get animal protein intake.

2. Orek tempeh

Tempeh orek or tempeh cooked with sweet soy sauce and chili is a cheap favorite dish and is a characteristic of the warteg menu.

Orek tempe sold in warteg usually consists of two types, namely wet and dry. Which one is better, of course depends on individual tastes.

Orek tempe is usually a menu that is often ordered at warteg because it is suitable as a side dish for warm rice.

3. Potato cakes

Potato cakes with a delicious taste and soft texture are never absent from the glass window of the warteg. Made from mashed potatoes mixed with simple spices then fried until browned, perkedel is suitable to be eaten with warm rice and vegetables.

If you want soupy food, vegetable soup, clear spinach and lodeh vegetables could be the right choice. The vegetable soup filling on the warteg menu usually consists of cabbage, carrots and potatoes.

Other choices of processed vegetables at warteg include stir-fried bitter melon, stir-fry kale, capcay and stir-fry bean sprouts.

Don’t forget vegetables so that your nutritional intake when consuming warteg food remains balanced.

5. Fried noodles

Another economical menu that can be bought at warteg is fried noodles, usually made from instant noodles or egg noodles which are prepared with various spices, such as garlic, shallots, sweet soy sauce and salt to give a savory taste.

To add to the deliciousness of fried noodles, warteg managers usually add various vegetables, eggs, meatballs or shredded chicken.
