DENPASAR, BALIPOST.com – Fast food or fast food is a food for many people. They generally choose to consume fast food because they are busy and the fast-paced rhythm of life.

Fast food offers convenience and tempting taste. However, the dangers hidden behind it are often overlooked.

Reporting from various sources, check out the 5 dangers of consuming excessive fast food:

1. Gaining weight

Ready-to-eat foods contain very high calories and fat. If consumed excessively, this type of food can quickly increase weight. People who eat fast food too often are very susceptible to obesity and pot bellies.
Apart from that, the high fat content in ready-to-eat foods can also cause an increase in cholesterol in the blood. This is what makes this type of food at risk of causing heart disease and stroke.

2. Increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes

Fast foods that are high in calories, fat and carbohydrates can cause blood sugar spikes in your body. If consumed frequently, over time it can cause insulin problems. As a result, you will be at greater risk of developing insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

3. Causes tooth decay

Ready-to-eat food is usually served with fizzy drinks or sweet drinks which are high in carbohydrate and sugar content. When this drink is consumed, the bacteria in your mouth will produce acid. This acid can destroy the protective layer (enamel) of teeth, causing cavities.

4. Increases the risk of respiratory problems

A study says that children who eat fast food at least three times a week are at risk of obesity and increased risk of relapse
asthma symptoms. Meanwhile, for adults, lurking obesity can lead to shortness of breath, wheezing, and sleep apnea.

5. Increases the risk of cancer

Various health studies have found that unhealthy eating patterns and lack of exercise contribute to increasing a person’s risk of developing cancer. The diet in question is a diet high in calories and fat and low in fiber, including ready-to-eat foods. (Beatrix Irenia/balipost)
