In Jakarta there are many choices of soto restaurants, there are even some legendary ones that have been around for decades. Not just one type, you can also choose many typical Indonesian soto according to your wishes.
This legendary soto restaurant usually has a distinctive taste even though it has been managed by several generations.

1. Soto Betawi H. Ma’ruf
Betawi H. Ma’ruf’s soto restaurant is one of the legendary dishes in Jakarta which has been established since 1940. This soto restaurant is characterized by a sauce that uses a mixture of coconut milk, milk and spices which makes it more savory and sticky.
A bowl of this soto contains pieces of meat, lung, tripe, kikil, or intestine according to taste with a sprinkling of chips. One portion of Betawi beef soto is around IDR 60,000.
This soto restaurant has also spread across various areas of Jakarta, namely in Central Jakarta, East Jakarta and South Jakarta.
2. Soto Ayam Ambengan Pak Sadi
Soto Ambengan Pak Sadi has been around since 1960 and has several branches in Jakarta, one of which is on Jl. Wolter Monginsidi, Senopati, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
This soto has a characteristic sauce with spices of turmeric, galangal and lemongrass which is more prominent than other soto. For the filling, it consists of shredded chicken, vermicelli, boiled eggs and young eggs, and koya is provided. The price for a portion of this soto starts from IDR 70 thousand.
3. Soto Tangkar Bang Edi
If you are a fan of meat, Soto Tangkar Bang Edi could be an alternative to visit. This soto restaurant has been around since the 1960s. Located on Jl. Tanah Abang II, Cideng, Central Jakarta.
Soto tangkar is a typical Betawi dish containing beef ribs whose sauce contains coconut milk, but the taste is not too heavy. There is quite a lot of meat filling, and you can add meat or innards according to taste. The price for a portion of this soto starts from IDR 30 thousand.

4. Soto Padang H. St. Mangkuto
Soto Padang restaurant located on Jl. Pintu Air, Pasar Baru has been around since 1966 and is still busy and has many branches.
Soto Padang is usually served in a small bowl, containing soft beef, vermicelli, perkedel, and sprinkled with fried onions, as well as white rice and red crackers. The price for a portion of Soto Padang starts from IDR 60 thousand.
5. Soto Mie Puri Pak H. Darjo
Located on Jl. Kembang Abadi Utama, Puri Kembangan, West Jakarta, Soto Mie Puri H. Darjo has been around since 1989. A bowl of this soto contains beef meatballs, yellow noodles, beef, risol, tomatoes, sliced cabbage and emping. This place could be an option if you want to enjoy typical Bogor soup food.
6. Soto Udang Galah Medan Akwang
Located at Pantjoran PIK Jl. Pantai Indah Kapuk, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, this soto restaurant is unique by serving large giant prawns mixed with a type of soto sauce which is creamy and tasty because it is a combination of coconut milk and milk.
