Eggplant contains 2 types of antioxidants, namely polyphenols and chlorogenic acid. These two antioxidant substances are found in the skin and flesh of the fruit and can function well in the body.

Mckenzie Caldwell, a dietitian from ‘Feed Your Zest Nutrition & Wellness’, revealed that antioxidants can help the body get rid of negative things (reactive oxygen). When these levels are too high, it can cause excessive inflammation and even cell damage.

Therefore, the polyphenols and chlorogenic acid in eggplant can help prevent the body from producing a lot of ROS (reactive oxygen). If you consume it regularly, you can minimize cell damage that causes chronic diseases, such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

2. Improves digestive health

It turns out that eggplant also contains high fiber. 1 cup (82 grams) of eggplant is said to provide around 2.5 grams of fiber. This content can help men and women meet their daily intake.

Talia Follador explains that there are around 45 benefits of proper and regular fiber intake in managing healthy cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels and gut microbiome function.

“Consuming 5-10 grams of soluble serar per day can help lower cholesterol,” said Follador.

Eggplant is known to contain around 20 percent soluble fiber, 1 cup means it contains 0.5 grams of soluble fiber. This content can support digestive health.
