1. Green tea

According to a 2022 study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, participants who consumed large amounts of green tea had a 44% lower risk of obesity than participants who did not drink green tea.
A 2008 study published in Physiology & Behavior found that obese participants who regularly drank green tea lost more weight overall than participants who didn’t drink green tea at all.
A study shows that most of its weight loss properties are due to its richness in polyphenols, and a subgroup of polyphenols known as catechins. The most abundant catechin found in green tea is ECGC, which is associated with accelerated metabolism.
2. Oolong tea
Another tea that has been shown to help with belly fat is oolong tea. This tea comes from the same leaves as green tea and black tea, but it is partially oxidized, whereas green tea is not oxidized, and black tea is fully oxidized.
Oolong is made by drying tea leaves in the sun until they wilt and curl.
Research shows that oolong tea also contains polyphenols which are linked to faster metabolism and reduced belly fat. An animal study published in The Journal of Nutrition shows that the polyphenols in green, black, and oolong tea all have the ability to help reduce visceral fat tissue.
A 2020 study from the University of Tsukuba even found that oolong tea increased fat breakdown by about 20%, and continued to increase while participants slept.
