Jakarta – Coffee is now a global lifestyle. The number of coffee shops is increasing every day. Including the need for baristas is also increasing.
The public is amazed by the current development of coffee trends. The attractive concoction and packaging of processed black powder is now an ingredient that is always sought after.
The hustle and bustle of coffee has had an impact on the profession of the people behind the grinding machines, aka baristas, becoming increasingly known. The coffee you are enjoying now is the result of a long process of coffee beans which are then mixed into a cup of coffee.

When it comes to brewing coffee, of course only competent baristas can serve the most delicious coffee. Moreover, data shows that coffee enthusiasts are increasing day by day, especially among young people.
For this reason, a competition event between baristas was held again. Carrying the title Indonesia Coffee Event (ICE) 2018, this competition event is a forum that brings together baristas from various regions to compete in their abilities.
This National Competition, which was held for the seventh time, was held to find the best Indonesian baristas. These baristas will later be sent as delegates to represent Indonesia in world-scale coffee competitions.
Yudhistira Bawono as Chair of the 2018 Indonesia Coffee Event Committee explained that there are four types of competitions that will be contested. “These four competitions are the Indonesia Barista Championship (IBC), Indonesia Brewers Championship (IBrC), Indonesia Latte Art Championship (ILAC) and Indonesia Cup Tasters Championship (ICTC),” explained Yudhistira during a press conference at Artotel, Central Jakarta (11/1 ).

The Eastern regional preliminary round was held at Pakuwon Mall Surabaya, while the Western region was held at PIK Avenue Mall Jakarta. Next, the IBC finalists will compete in Bali and the finalists from the other three competitions will compete in Jakarta.
Not a barista? In this event there is also a Coffee Village where dozens of coffeeshop stands from big cities in Indonesia gather. You can enjoy free coffee, bazaars and various other promotions while watching the baristas compete. Coffee Village will be held at Pakuwon Mall Surabaya on 19-21 January 2018 and at PIK Avenue Mall Jakarta on 1-4 February.
