1. Use the boiling method 5-30-7

This method is known to save gas when cooking meat. The trick is to boil the meat for 5 minutes, then turn off the heat and let stand for 30 minutes in a tightly closed pan.

According to Chef Stefu Santoso, Executive Chef APREZ Catering by AMUZ Group in an interview with Kompas.com on Saturday (1/5/2021), this method works because the heat in the pan is still enough to continue the cooking process. After 30 minutes, turn on the heat back and boil the meat for 7 minutes until tender.

2. Utilizing hot steam in a closed pan

After the water boils, turn off the heat and cover the pan tightly. The trapped heat will help the meat more mature without the need to turn on the fire continuously.

“If the pan is tightly closed, the hot temperature in it remains high and can make the meat more tender,” explained Chef Stefu Santoso in an interview with Kompas.com.

3. Choose a soft piece of meat

Not all parts of the meat have the same texture. Chef Stefu recommends choosing inside or external Has pieces because it is faster than the Sengkel or Lamur.

Smaller pieces of meat also help speed up the cooking process and make seasoning more pervasive.

4. MARINATION OF MEAT BEFORE COOK

Soaking the meat in the seasoning before cooking can help speed up the soft process. Use natural ingredients such as pineapple, papaya, or tamarind water that contains meat softener enzymes.

Besides saving time, this method also makes the meat richer and does not require too long cooking process.

5. Use hot water when boiling meat

Starting boiling with hot water will speed up the cooking process. This is more gas -efficient than inserting meat into cold water that takes a long time to boil.

“Inserting meat into boiling water can trim the cooking time up to half,” said Chef Stefu.

6. Use a Presto Pot if you want to be more efficient

Although not a method without additional tools, a presto pan can be an option to save gas when cooking meat. Chef Stefu said that the presto pan can reduce cooking time by 50% compared to the usual method.

Using high pressure in a presto pan also helps soften the meat fiber faster without having to boil for a long time.

7. Cooking with Slow Cooking Techniques

Cooking meat in low temperatures with low heat for several hours can make it more tender and the spices are perfectly absorbed. This technique is suitable for dishes such as rendang or curry.

Although it takes a long time, this method does not spend too much gas because it only requires low fire throughout the cooking process.
