Established in 1950, Gudeg Yu Djum serves gudeg prepared in a traditional way with an original recipe for its unique taste.

Various side dishes such as bacem eggs, krecek and free-range chicken add to the enjoyment of this legendary culinary delight with prices starting from only IDR 18,000.

Not only that, if you want to eat gudeg practically, there is canned gudeg which lasts for 24 hours when opened and 1 hour when unopened.

Gudeg Yu Djum has outlets spread across several areas of Yogyakarta, namely on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Jalan Dagen, Jalan Laksda Adisucipto, Jalan Wijilan, Jalan Wates, and the southern parking area of ​​Tugu Yogyakarta Railway Station.

2. Pak Pong’s Klathak Satay

For satay lovers, Sate Klathak Pak Pong, which has been established since 1960 and has three branches, is a must-try for Yogyakarta culinary hunters.

When in Yogyakarta, you can visit this satay restaurant on Jalan Imogiri Timur, Jalan Sultan Agung, and Jalan Imogiri Barat.

Klathak satay is a unique young goat meat satay because it is only seasoned with salt and cooked with iron bars, not bamboo like satay in general.

Using an iron skewer helps the heat evenly and the spices penetrate the meat, creating a tender texture and delicious taste.

Once cooked, the klathak satay will be eaten with curry sauce and chili sauce with a taste that can pamper the tongue.

This satay is very unique and can only be found in Yogyakarta. Specifically for klatak satay, the price is IDR 32,000 for two skewers. Meanwhile, other menus, such as tongseng, kronyos, curry and tengkleng, start at IDR 20,000.

3. Bakmi Jawa Mbah Mo

Bakmi Jawa is a typical Javanese dish which is famous for its savory and salty taste. One that has been legendary since 1986 is Bakmi Jawa Mbah Mo, which is located in the Bantul area, Jalan Parangtriris, Code hamlet, Trirenggo.

This noodle is cooked using a brazier or clay stove and gives a distinctive aroma to the soup. Menu choices include fried noodles, godhog noodles with thick yellow sauce, and noodle noodles, with the addition of appetizing shredded free-range chicken.

This place is quite simple, but is always busy with visitors because of its authentic taste and has been visited by the former President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Suharto.

The price of Mbah Mo’s Javanese noodles is relatively economical, starting from IDR 20,000 to IDR 27,000.

4. Lik Man Angkringan

Angkringan is a culinary icon of Yogyakarta, and Angkringan Lik Man is the first angkringan in Yogyakarta and is legendary since 1968, which was originally located near Tugu Station and in 1974 moved to Jalan Wongsodirjan.

At this angkringan, you can enjoy a variety of simple food choices such as cat rice, quail egg satay, medoan, bacem tempeh, and susur tofu, and fried foods.

However, the most special thing is Kopi Joss, which is hot black coffee served with charcoal dipped directly into the glass. Please note that the charcoal in Kopi Joss uses charcoal from ready-made tamarind wood or sambi wood.

5. House of Raminten

House of Raminten serves culinary delights with a strong Javanese atmosphere with classic interiors. This eating place was founded in 1979 by Jogja artist, Hamzah Sulaiman, who started from the legacy of his parents.

This eating place is known for its menus such as nasi tenong, sekul pangkon, and rantang hayu.

This dining place is very unique, full of traditional decorations, and visitors are even served by waiters dressed in typical Javanese clothing.

This makes the House of Raminten not just a place to eat, but also a place to enjoy Javanese art and culture and even shopping.

6. Soto Kadipiro

Founded in 1928, Soto Kadipiro is a legendary restaurant that has survived amidst modern culinary competition.

This soto serves chicken soto in a clear broth that is rich in fresh, savory yellowish brown color, filled with cabbage, celery, bean sprouts, rice, fried onions and shredded chicken.

Here, visitors can choose additional side dishes such as fritters, fried foods and quail egg satay to accompany their soto meal.

The legendary savory taste of this soto makes Soto Kadipiro which is located in the Bantul area on Jl. Wates No. 33 is always busy with local visitors and tourists.

7. PK Fruit Ice

After enjoying various heavy dishes, try stopping at Es Buah PK, which is a legendary snack that has been around since 1973.

Its simple location on Jalan Pakuningrat, Cokrondiningratan is always busy, especially during the day when it is full of queues of customers.
