In Blok M, you can spend some me time alone in an aesthetic cafe, or eat with your family at a popular stall or restaurant. So, what are the famous culinary spots in Blok M? Here are some recommendations, based on various sources.
1. Angkringan Blok M Square
At night, the Blok M Square courtyard area will be transformed into a lesehan dining area. Lots of angkringan with dozens of tempting side dishes.
If you come here, Angkringan Bu Gendut could be an option because of its complete menu. In this angkringan you will find a long table covered with a plastic tarpaulin tablecloth, on top of which dozens of plates containing various side dishes and vegetables are arranged.
2. Gultik Blok M Plaza
Gultik is an abbreviation of Gulai Bend. The term gultik originates from a group of curry traders who sell food on pick-up carts. Usually, these curry sellers start appearing in the afternoon until midnight along the corners. That is the reason this culinary dish was finally called gultik.
Gultik Blok M is made with tender and tasty beef, cut into thin strips, and cooked in a slightly thick and spicy sauce.
3. Bornga
Bornga is here for those of you who want to eat Korean-style food. This Korean restaurant is quite famous.
Woo Samgyup, pieces of beef brisket served with a special Korean sauce, is one of the favorite menus here. Diverse dishes, authentic flavors and friendly service can be reasons to come to this restaurant and eat your favorite Ginseng Country dishes.
4. RSPP Satay
Located in front of the Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP), this kiosk, which has existed since 1960, has two menu choices, namely chicken and goat satay. The characteristic of RSPP satay is its thick cuts of meat and its quite large size. The texture of the meat is soft, because the satay here goes through two grilling processes.
The first grill is only until the satay is half cooked, then rested for a while. Then the satay is grilled again until cooked.
5. Claypot Popo
This typical Chinese food stall provides a variety of Chinese comfort foods such as flushed claypot, a warm menu that combines sauce with rice that is sticky and slightly smokey at the bottom.
There is also a garlic beef claypot. The meat is cut thinly and the spices are delicious. The rice is similar to fried rice with pieces of egg. Delicious combination!
6. Scarlett’s House
Want to hang out at a beautiful cafe in the Blok M area? Just come to Scarlett’s House which is located on Jalan Melawai. Here you can eat pistachio pesto and smoked beef sandwiches with smokey meat and served with sliced potatoes plus salted butter.
There is also melted leek and lemon pasta which is al dente and there is a touch of crunch from the bread and walnuts.
