There are many diet patterns that promise effective weight loss results. Some limit calorie intake and others recommend reducing carbohydrates and fat.

With so many diet patterns out there, perhaps quite a few of them are confused about choosing the right type of diet. Because every individual has a different body condition. One type of diet carried out by one person may not necessarily work for another individual.

Before trying a diet pattern, it is better to first know the types of diets that are known to be effective in losing weight. Summarizing the Times of India (15/01/2021), here are 5 types of popular diets for losing weight:

1. Intermittent Fasting Diet

The intermittent fasting diet or intermittent fasting is a popular diet. Someone who does this type of diet can consume food freely within a limited period of time.

They will fast within a certain window of time, but can freely eat during the remaining time. Intermittent fasting will limit calorie intake which is one of the factors for losing weight.

Although there are several different ways to do intermittent fasting, they are all based on choosing regular eating and fasting times. The timing is 16:8, namely eight hours free from eating, and the remaining time is for fasting.

The 5:2 method involves eating regularly five days a week. However, for the remaining two days, food intake will be limited to around 500-600 calories a day. If you get used to it, those who are used to this diet will have a longer fasting time.

The food menu that can be consumed is actually eating normally as usual while still paying attention to nutritious food. It is also recommended to avoid high-calorie fast food, fried foods, snacks, and sweet foods or drinks.

2. Keto Diet

Diet Keto is no less popular than intermittent fasting. The ketogenic diet is a diet low in carbohydrates but high in fat. This eating pattern allows the body to burn fat as fuel.

When a person reduces carbohydrate intake, the body will enter the ketosis stage, which indicates that the body begins to burn fat stored in the body for energy. This process is what causes weight loss.

Some foods that can be consumed on the keto diet range from avocados, whole grains, fish such as salmon and tuna, to some nuts which are high in fat.

Maybe the keto diet will show maximum results, but there are also side effects. Most keto dieters who consume foods high in fat risk endangering their kidney health.
