Not only does it have side effects on pregnant women or children. Consuming too much coffee also has an impact on teenagers’ health.
Drinking coffee has many health benefits, as long as it is drunk in reasonable portions and according to recommendations. Coffee itself is a daily drink that can increase energy and even focus in the morning.
For teenagers themselves, excessive coffee consumption can have side effects on teenagers’ health. Adolescents themselves are divided into three parts, namely early adolescents aged 12-15 years. Then there is middle adolescence from 15-18 years old, and late adolescence from 18-21 years old.
According to recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics, teenagers should only consume 100 milligrams of caffeine a day. Equivalent to a cup of espresso coffee.

Actually, this caffeine content is not only found in coffee, but in several other drinks. For example, tea, fizzy drinks and energy drinks. However, what is most consumed is coffee.
“If you drink tea or coffee, and for example add milk, sugar or honey, this can cause problems,” explained health expert Ty G. Bristol.
Most coffee consumption contains a lot of sweeteners, especially artificial sweeteners. These side effects can trigger headaches, depression, risk of developing cancer and even weight gain.

The answer to whether it is safe or not is not certain. However, according to the explanation from Adolescent Health Specialist Dr. Catherine Miller, there is no problem with teenagers consuming coffee as long as it is in small doses.
If teenagers drink too much coffee, the side effects that can be felt are insomnia, headaches, irritability, and even heart palpitations. Therefore, teenagers should not consume large doses of coffee.

Even though it is delicious, coffee consumption must also be limited. Because the caffeine content in it can make the mouth dry. Apart from that, regularly drinking these two drinks can leave stains on your teeth.
Especially if coffee is consumed by adding sugar to caffeine drinks. The risk of teeth becoming damaged is even higher. It’s best to drink water after drinking coffee or tea and don’t forget to brush your teeth afterwards.
Coffee can also make your breath smell unpleasant. To avoid this, you can eat first before drinking coffee, and clean your tongue using a tongue brush or tongue scraper, after brushing your teeth or after drinking coffee to prevent this side effect.
