1. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is able to control diabetes and reduce blood sugar levels by triggering insulin activity.

Quoting from the Times of India, research shows cinnamon helps reduce oxidative stress which plays an important role in reducing sugar levels in cases of type 2 diabetes.

You can mix half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder in a cup of warm water and drink it every day. Cinnamon powder can also be added to various drinks, smoothies or desserts.

2. Nuts

You can lower blood sugar levels by including nuts and foods rich in soluble fiber in your daily diet.

Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that is not broken down and absorbed into the bloodstream. Fiber will not raise blood sugar levels. Including soluble fiber in your daily diet helps prevent crazy blood spikes after meals.

Apart from nuts, natural sources of soluble fiber include lentils, legumes, bananas, oatmeal, and Brussels sprouts.

3. Brown rice

It’s best to replace white rice with brown rice which contains complex carbohydrates. According to Healthy, a review of more than 80 studies concluded that compared to refined grains, whole grains can lower blood sugar levels after eating.

Whole grains are not limited to brown rice. You can take other natural medicines to lower blood sugar such as buckwheat, whole wheat, sorghum, or barley (millet).

Avocados are very rich in nutrients such as healthy fats, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and fiber. Like ginger which lowers blood sugar, avocado is also able to regulate blood sugar levels.

A 2018 study of 31 people who were overweight or obese compared three foods with appropriate calories, namely, food without avocado, half an avocado and a whole avocado.

As a result, meals with half or one whole avocado reduced blood sugar levels after eating compared to meals without avocado.

5. Ginger

Ginger has proven itself to be a natural blood sugar lowerer and regulates insulin response in people with diabetes.

Reporting from Healthline, an animal study in 2014 found that a mixture of cinnamon and ginger could reduce blood sugar, body weight and fat mass in obese mice.

Meanwhile, research in 2015 proved that powdered ginger supplements could regulate fasting blood sugar in participants.

This benefit can be obtained if ginger is consumed in moderation. Just consume 4 grams per day to be used as a blood sugar lowerer.
