Heartburn, a feeling of burning pain or discomfort in the chest is one of the common symptoms of stomach acid. Heartburn can be overcome by consuming the following natural drinks.
Gastric acid disease or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is experienced by many Indonesians. The general symptom is a burning feeling in the chest due to stomach acid rising into the esophagus. This condition is known as heartburn.
Heartburn occurs when the ring-shaped muscle (sphincter) which is the valve between the esophagus and stomach cannot tighten or close normally, wrote Alodokter (12/11). When this muscle is fat, food that has mixed with stomach acid can return to the esophagus.
This condition of increased stomach acid can irritate the walls of the esophagus and cause burning pain in the chest. Heartburn can occur due to eating a lot, consuming spicy food, drinking caffeinated drinks, or lying down immediately after eating.
To overcome heartburn, there are several steps, including following a healthy and nutritious diet. Apart from that, consuming this natural heartburn reliever drink could be an option.

Water is clearly needed by the body to function optimally. One of its roles is to help the digestive system run smoothly. A study found that frequent consumption of water can help clear acid from the esophagus. The tip can prevent heartburn and damage to the esophagus.
Having a pH of 7, water is considered neutral. This means it is neither acidic nor basic. A study also shows that consuming alkaline electrolyzed drinking water with a modified pH can help neutralize stomach acid, relieve heartburn and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
2. Non-fat milk and yogurt
The fat content in whole milk can trigger heartburn, but consuming nonfat milk can actually help overcome it. Nonfat milk can relieve heartburn because it can act as a temporary buffer between the stomach lining and stomach acid.
Another option is low-fat yogurt. This drink has qualities similar to nonfat milk which relieves heartburn. Another advantage, yogurt contains probiotics which help improve the digestive system in general.
3. Non-acid fruit and vegetable juices

When you are experiencing heartburn, you must also be careful when consuming drinks. Avoid acidic drinks such as fruit and vegetable juices which are made from sour fruits such as pineapple, tomatoes or oranges. Consuming this juice can irritate the esophagus and make heartburn worse.
As a solution, choose non-acidic fruit and vegetable juices. Its properties can relieve heartburn. Examples include cabbage, carrot, celery, melon, pear and aloe vera juice. You can also combine these non-acid fruits and vegetables with plant-based milk and green vegetables into heartburn-friendly smoothies.
