5 immune-boosting teas that you must try, according to nutrition experts

KOMPAS.com – After a long day, a cup of tea can be the solution to find peace. However, the benefits of tea do not only provide a sense of calm and relaxation.

Many types of tea are rich in ingredients that can improve the immune system.

“Herbal teas are known to be rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, polyphenols, and various other compounds that can support immune cell function,” explained Christen Kaplan, a certified holistic nutritionist, as reported by Real Simple.

Nutritionist and herbalist Rachel Miller said that the immune system’s first line of defense is the presence of physical barriers, such as the skin and mucous layers in the nose, throat and digestive tract.

“When the body is well hydrated, it is able to form a strong physical barrier to prevent foreign bacteria and viruses from entering,” he said.

Tea helps maintain body hydration, in addition to offering additional benefits through its various vitamins and minerals.
