5 Fruits Low in Sugar and Carbohydrates that You Should Consume Every Day

Some of these fruits are considered bad because many people are mistaken about their sugar and carbohydrate content. Even though it is low in carbohydrates and actually high in nutrients.

Basically, fruit is a very healthy natural food. Fruit is packed with various important nutrients, such as vitamins, fiber, protein, and antioxidants.

Even though it tastes sweet, that doesn’t mean it has a high sugar content. Fruit contains sugar naturally and the amount is still within safe levels.

Likewise with fruit which contains carbohydrates. Instead of increasing weight, fruit can actually be a safer food substitute for a diet.

1. Watermelon

Watermelon is a fruit with a high water content, even reaching 92%. According to 2020 research, watermelon is rich in an antioxidant called lycopene.

Lycopene is a carotenoid that gives watermelon its red color and has anti-inflammatory properties. The benefits can protect the body from heart disease.

Apart from that, pharmacological studies also found that watermelon can prevent diabetes. This finding dispels many people’s concerns about the sweet taste of watermelon.

Even though it tastes sweet, 100 grams of watermelon contains 6 grams of sugar. This amount is still within reasonable limits.

2. Orange

Oranges are a good source of vitamin C. 100 grams of orange fruit contains 53.2 mg of vitamin C. This provides almost 100% of the daily vitamin C requirement.

Vitamin C can act as an antioxidant. A 2023 study in CUreus suggests that vitamin C may protect the body from oxidative stress and inflammation.

This sweet and juicy fruit is also rich in fiber, so it helps keep you full longer. Citrus fruits are also packed with natural folate for brain and nerve health.

Apart from that, the sugar content is also relatively low even though it tastes sweet. In 100 grams of oranges the sugar content is around 9.35 grams.
