Other lifestyle factors such as exercise and hydration also affect blood sugar levels. Therefore, it is better to start the day with healthy breakfast habits.

A simple habit that you can do when you first wake up is drinking water. By keeping the body hydrated, it can reduce blood sugar levels by diluting the amount of sugar in the bloodstream. Because health experts say the problem of high blood sugar and dehydration is related.

Nutritionist Justine Chan, MHSc, RD, CDE revealed that drinking water can prevent blood sugar levels from becoming more concentrated. If we drink lots of water, we can also manage our cravings and reduce our intake of sweet drinks, which is certainly better.

Breakfast habits can help stabilize blood sugar levels. Some people notice that the longer they go without eating, the more their blood sugar levels increase.

This process is called gluconeogenesis or the process of making blood sugar which is stored in the liver to keep energy levels high even if you don’t eat.

Meanwhile, Patricia Kolesa, MS, RDN as a nutrition expert revealed that if someone does not eat for a long period of time, this will actually stress the body, causing blood sugar to rise.

When you wake up in the morning, blood sugar may increase, so a balanced breakfast will stabilize or even reduce blood sugar levels.

For this reason, make breakfast a daily habit because this will keep blood sugar levels balanced and have a greater effect on stabilizing them throughout the day.

When you have breakfast, make sure you also eat balanced nutritious food. Kourtney Johnson added recommendations for a good breakfast, namely the presence of fiber and protein as a source of carbohydrates to reduce blood sugar spikes after eating.
