Several benefits can be felt by drinking this lemon ginger tea concoction.

Facilitates digestion

One of them is to help improve digestion.

According to Scott Keatley, RD, co-owner of Keatley Medical Nutrition Therapy, “Drinking lemon ginger tea can promote healthy digestion by combining the benefits of ginger and lemon in a soothing drink.”

According to him, ginger contains compounds in the form of gingerol which stimulate the production of digestive enzymes, increase intestinal motility, and help break down food more effectively.

Meanwhile, lemon contains lower acid levels than hydrochloric acid, so it is naturally good for the stomach.

Relieves nausea

According to expert Keatley, gingerol and shogaol are active compounds in ginger that interact with serotonin receptors in the intestine, so they can reduce nausea signals to the brain.

The strong scent of lemon can also help calm the central nervous system, by helping the body relax when feeling nauseous.

Facilitate defecation

Jessica Cording, RD, author of ‘The Little Book of Game-Changers’ also revealed that there is a compound in lemons called limonene. These compounds help facilitate digestion.

Meanwhile, ginger can speed up gastric emptying which also helps with regular bowel movements.

Relieves inflammation

Not only is it related to digestion, consuming lemon ginger tea can also overcome inflammation.

Cording revealed, “Lemons have antioxidant properties and vitamin C which has been shown to protect against cell damage due to inflammation.”

The ginger in this drink also contains bioactive compounds, such as gingerol, shogaol, and parasol. This compound inhibits pro-inflammatory pathways by defeating certain enzymes.
