1. The beginning of coffee in Indonesia

Quoting Historia, the popularity of coffee in Indonesia cannot be separated from the presence of the Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie (VOC) which brought coffee from Europe. They even hired a botanist, Carolus Linnaeus, to import coffee into Indonesian soil for many years.

Long story short, it was discovered that robusta, which is more resistant to pests and weather, was successfully planted abundantly on the island of Java. Then the coffee that was successfully cultivated in Java was known as Arabica in the book A Cup of Java written by Gabriella Teggia and Mark Hanusz.

After various developments were carried out, the coffee plants from Java were brought to the Amsterdam Botanical Research Institute (1706). It was discovered that coffee beans in Java have very good quality and delicious taste.
