The doctor in California, the United States explained, “Coffee can trigger cavities if you drink coffee and stick to your teeth for about 30 minutes.”
“When you drink coffee, it’s good to drink faster because the longer the coffee is in your teeth, the more the acidic environment it causes (causing cavities),” explained Hases.

2. Drink water after drinking coffee
Other tips that can be done, drink water after drinking coffee. Water helps rinse the acid from the coffee left in the mouth. Like saliva, water has a neutral pH which means not acidic or alkaline.

Another ‘weapon’ to get rid of the risk of yellow and cavities is chewing sugar -free gum after drinking coffee. “Sugar free gum activates the salivary glands. So the more saliva is available, the more neutral the environment in the mouth,” said Hases.
Another way, eating fruit like apples or bananas to fight the acidity of coffee, but avoid sour fruit like oranges.
What about the toothbrush? Hases recommends waiting at least 5-10 minutes after drinking coffee. “The acid environment will soften the enamel. So if you brush your teeth immediately after drinking coffee, you can cause more damage,” he concluded.
