A renowned diet nutritionist based in Seattle, Washington, USA, Angel Planells, explained that people who are not recommended to drink coffee are those who have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
“Caffeine can increase the regularity of bowel movements, including increasing the likelihood of diarrhea, a major symptom of irritable bowel syndrome (or IBS),” he says.
Therefore, people with irritable bowel syndrome are advised to limit or even avoid caffeinated drinks

People who are not advised to drink too much coffee or have to limit their coffee intake are people with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).
Caffeine can loosen the lower esophageal sphincter, which is the valve between the esophagus and the stomach. This can cause stomach acid contents to enter the esophagus, causing uncomfortable GERD symptoms.
“If you have GERD, see if switching to decaf can help,” says dietitian Sue Heikkinen.
3. People with Glaucoma

Coffee is also not recommended for those suffering from glaucoma or a medical condition in the form of vision problems caused by damage to the optic nerve.
Usually, damage to the eye nerve occurs due to high pressure on the eyeball.
“Intraocular pressure increases in people with glaucoma when consuming coffee, so it is advisable to limit or avoid intake, but more research is needed,” Planells said.
Additionally, according to research conducted by Mount Sinai, drinking large amounts of caffeine increases the risk of glaucoma in those who have a tendency to increase eye pressure.
