Denpasar –
Want to taste Yakiniku and steak dishes with a hotplate concept at street prices, aka cheap, try coming to Hotplate KQ5. This food shop, located on Jalan Tukad Barito Timur IV number 2, serves three variants of cheap and cheerful hot plates.
“This is a combination of steak and Yakiniku. Only, we cook it. At a cheap price,” said KQ5 Hotplate Owner Ida Bagus Putu Surya Manuaba alias Gustu when met by detikBali at his shop, Sunday (29/12/2024).
detikBali visited the KQ5 Hotplate shop. The shop is open from 17.00 WITA to 23.00 WITA. At this shop, customers can see firsthand how the employees cook Yakiniku and steak.
There is a chicken hotplate, beef hotplate and mix hotplate menu. The three menus are priced starting at IDR 20 thousand, IDR 25 thousand and IDR 30 thousand. Customers can choose teriyaki sauce, black pepper sauce, or both.
There are also fried eggs and half-boiled fried eggs to choose from. detikBali tasted beef hotplate with teriyaki sauce and fried egg.
“(All hotplate variants) have components, rice, vegetables and eggs. You just have to choose the meat. Chicken, beef and the mix (a mixture of chicken and beef),” said Gustu.
For beef hotplate, the eggs are fried first. Then, followed by beef cut lengthwise. The term is shredded beef.
After some time, pieces of peas, carrots and corn fall into the baking dish. Finally, a medium-sized bowl of rice is placed on the hot baking sheet.
The cooking process doesn’t take long. In fact, the beef hotplate ordered by detikBali is served while it is still hot. The teriyaki sauce that was spread all over the surface of the baking dish still looked like it was boiling.

“Because the heat effect lasts a long time,” he said.
After waiting several minutes, the beef hotplate could finally be tasted. The taste of the teriyaki sauce is really felt when you take the first bite of rice. However, the dominant taste of the teriyaki sauce seemed to be rivaled by the aroma and taste of the beef slices. Even though it was covered in teriyaki sauce, the taste of the beef was not drowned out.
detikBali tried peas, corn kernels and carrot pieces, which were also served in a baking dish. Nothing strange. In fact, it’s like neutralizing the thick taste of the teriyaki sauce.
“(The teriyaki sauce is drizzled in a spoonful) so that the taste is standard when opening a branch. Because (it could be that) not everyone cooks the same way. Also, so that it’s easier for the staff here to cook,” he explained.
One of the visitors from Denpasar, Melan (24), said he enjoyed the hotplate mix he ordered. Especially, the beef is quite soft on the tongue.
“Because, there is (beef) that is difficult to eat,” said Melan.
However, he feels that black pepper sauce is like a packaged product that is often sold in supermarkets. “The seasoning is probably like ready-made seasoning. It’s not too spicy either,” he said.

For three dollars, Dwi Cahyanti (25), also admitted that he enjoyed the beef in the beef hotplate variant he ordered. The visitor from Badung admitted that the taste of the beef was quite strong.
“The meat is tender. It’s not that tough,” said Dwi.
