One food ingredient that is suitable for a free nutritious meal program is eggs. Apart from being delicious and easy to prepare, eggs are also known as one of the most nutritious food ingredients.

Here are the reasons why eggs deserve to be the main choice in the daily menu:

1. Rich in nutrients

Eggs contain almost all the nutrients the body needs, making them a nutrient-dense food. Vitamin D, B12, and minerals such as iodine are some examples of important nutrients found in eggs.

If you choose eggs enriched with omega-3, the benefits will be even greater because omega-3 fatty acids are known to be good for brain and heart health.

2. Source of complete protein

As a source of protein, eggs have their own advantages because they contain nine essential amino acids that the body needs for cell growth and repair.

Choline is also important during pregnancy and breastfeeding for the baby’s healthy brain development.

4. Maintain heart health

Eggs contain betaine and choline, two nutrients that support heart health. Research shows that consuming one egg every day can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, as long as it is combined with a balanced diet.

5. Good for eye health

Nutrients such as lutein and zeaxanthin in eggs help protect the eyes from macular degeneration and cataracts. Apart from that, the vitamin A content in eggs also supports good vision.
