Indonesia is proud again in the eyes of the world. A number of big cities in the country, namely Jakarta, Surabaya and Bandung, were successfully included in the 50 destinations culinary best in the world according to Taste Atlas for the 2024-2025 period.
According to VN Express, Sunday (29/12/2024), this year’s list attracted 477,287 user votes from 17,073 cities, representing the highest ranked dish among 15,478 local specialties. The city of Jakarta itself is ranked 16th with an average score of 4.69 out of 5.
Meanwhile, two other Indonesian cities are also on the list, namely Bandung, which is ranked 32nd, and Surabaya, ranked 34th. Taste Atlas also recommends several Indonesian dishes that you must try. Some recommended Indonesian culinary delights are nasi uduk, gado-gado, chicken porridge and Betawi soto.
Meanwhile, several other countries such as Singapore and Vietnam are also included in the Taste Atlas list of the 50 best culinary destinations. Singapore is in 22nd place on the list, with culinary highlights including char kway teow, Hainanese chicken rice, beef kway teow, cereal prawns and chilli crab.
Meanwhile, Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is in 40th position with an average score of 4.5/5. Taste Atlas highlights the city’s iconic dishes, such as cha gio, bun cha, bun rieu and bun oc.
This is not the first time that Indonesian culinary success has gone international and has become a favorite in many countries. Several Indonesian dishes such as rendang, soto and satay have also entered the list of culinary highlights in the world.
This indicates that the deliciousness of Indonesian cuisine really shakes the tongue and can certainly make the country proud.
Furthermore, The 100 Best Cuisines in the World is an annual ranking by TasteAtlas, based on evaluations from culinary critics, chefs and food enthusiasts around the world.
