KOMPAS.com – World -class culinary guide, Michelin Guide, will expand its wings to highlight the culinary landscape in the Philippines starting in 2026. The areas that are the focus of Michelin Guide are Metro Manila, Cebu City, Pampanga, Tagaytay, and Cavite.
The Philippines will be the fifth country in Southeast Asia that has the Michelin Guide after Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. While Indonesia is not included.
“Our Michelin Inspector has followed the culinary development of the Philippines with enthusiasm. The culinary traditions that are rooted in this country, combined with strong openness to global influence, creating a unique and diverse dining culture,” said International Director Michelin Guide, Gwendal Poulannec, quoted from The official Michelin Guide page, Thursday (2/20/2025).

The Michelin Guide expansion plan to the Philippines was welcomed by the Philippine Tourism Ministry.

“We delivered our warm welcome to the Michelin Guide, his international recognition of the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines, celebrating the diversity of extraordinary flavors and creativity in our country,” said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.
He continued, the Philippine government was proud to share the distinctive excitement of culture and culinary to the world.
This, he added, can be enjoyed by dining throughout the cities and beautiful islands in the Philippines.

He continued, the arrival of the Michelin Guide to the Philippines is not only proof of the culinary superiority of the Philippines, but also as a leap for Filipino tourism, especially for gastronomy which is currently a national tourism priority.
“In the Philippines, every dish tells a story and every taste is an invitation to feel the cultural wealth of our country,” Frasco said.
Before deciding to expand to the Philippines, the Michelin Guide examination team in secret had explored the areas there and tried to experience dining.
The arrival of the Michelin Guide to the Philippines highlighted the talented chefs, as well as the dedicated teams in the Philippines to celebrate the spirit, innovation, respect the tastes and local traditions.
