ISTANBUL – For Indonesian tourists who are in Turkey, or even migrants who miss the typical cuisine of their homeland, an Indonesian restaurant in the Taksim area, Istanbul, could be the right choice. Urip Indonesian Food Restaurant, located on Jalan Istiqlal, serves a variety of traditional Indonesian dishes with authentic flavors, making it a special culinary destination in this Turkish tourist center.

This restaurant is owned by a migrant from Bali, who started his business as a spa therapy business. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic, she switched to opening a restaurant with her Turkish husband. The success of this restaurant cannot be separated from their commitment to maintaining the quality and taste of Indonesian cuisine, by obtaining various official certificates from the Turkish government.

At the Urip Indonesia restaurant, you can enjoy typical Indonesian dishes such as fried rice, meatballs, chicken penyet, ice cendol, and various types of snacks. The prices offered range from 50 to 400 Lira (around Rp. 50,000 to Rp. 300,000), quite affordable for enjoying Indonesian culinary delights abroad. The spices used in cooking are imported directly from Indonesia, although several types of chilies are grown in Türkiye using seeds originating from Indonesia.

This restaurant also employs migrant chefs from Indonesia, ensuring that every dish that comes out of the restaurant’s kitchen has the taste that visitors want. The customers who come are varied, from Indonesian students, migrant workers, to native Turks who want to experience the taste of Indonesia.

For those of you who are in Istanbul and want to enjoy delicious Indonesian cuisine, Urip Indonesia Restaurant in Taksim can be a pleasant culinary choice and provide sweet memories from your homeland. (Dwinarto)
