“The launch of the Gastrodiplomacy Dashboard is a very positive concrete step. This is in line with our efforts to introduce the culinary riches of the archipelago as part of soft power diplomacy,” said Hendy, Thursday (2/1/2025).
As a perpetrator culinary industry who has experience in bringing Indonesian flavors to the global market, Hendy emphasized the importance of synergy between the government and business actors. “With this dashboard, it is hoped that gastrodiplomacy information and strategies can be better coordinated. “So that promotion of Indonesian culinary abroad will be more effective,” he added.
Hendy also sees great potential for culinary MSMEs to utilize this platform. “Culinary MSMEs have an important role in introducing Indonesian culture through food. “With this dashboard, they can gain access to information and opportunities to expand into international markets,” he explained.
Previously, Hendy also emphasized the importance of diplomacy between countries through typical Indonesian culinary delights, especially for the MSME sector. “Culinary can be an entry point for introducing Indonesian culture while improving people’s welfare,” he said in a scientific oration entitled “Gastrodiplomacy for MSME Culinary Work” at Kadiri Islamic University (Uniska) Kediri.
For information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a Gastrodiplomacy Dashboard as part of the “Indonesia Spice Up the World” program. This dashboard aims to be a center for information and strategies in promoting Indonesian culinary at the global level, supporting the role of culinary as part of Indonesian cultural diplomacy.
“I hope that Indonesian culinary delights can become increasingly known and loved throughout the world, and have a positive impact on the national economy through increasing exports of food and beverage products,” he said.
