Reporting from VN Express, Sunday (29/12/2024), this list was compiled based on 477,287 votes from users spread across 17,073 cities. Jakarta managed to rank 16th with an average score of 4.69 out of 5.
Taste Atlas recommends several typical Jakarta dishes that are worth tasting, such as nasi uduk, gado-gado, chicken porridge and Betawi soto. This dish is considered to represent the delights of traditional Indonesian cuisine which is rich in flavors and spices.
Bandung also listed its name on this list by ranking 32nd. The Flower City is known for its culinary specialties such as batagor, dumplings and various street foods that appeal to the taste buds.
Meanwhile, Surabaya is ranked 34th, with its culinary mainstays such as rawon, lontong racing, and rujak cingur. This culinary delight is a favorite of local and international tourists.
Apart from Indonesia, other Asian countries also dominate this list. Singapore ranked 22nd with signature dishes such as char kway teow, Hainanese chicken rice and chilli crab. Meanwhile, Hanoi, Vietnam, occupies 40th position with its culinary icons such as cha gio, bun cha and bun rieu.
This list shows the culinary diversity of various cities in the world. Where the assessment is based on taste, uniqueness and popularity among global food lovers.
This is not the first time Indonesian culinary has received international recognition. Previously, dishes such as rendang, soto and satay were also included in the list of the world’s best culinary delights.
