Is it safe to eat instant noodles seasoning? This is the explanation


Kompas.com – Instant noodle spices are usually in the form of powder that dissolves easily in water. However, there are times when the seasoning even lumps when opened from the packaging.

This condition makes some people doubt whether instant noodles are still safe for consumption. So, what causes the spices to clot and how to overcome it?

1. Wrong storage

Instant noodles are durable, but storage is very influential on its quality. If stored in a damp place, water vapor can enter the package and make the spices lumpy.

Likewise, if exposed to direct sunlight or high heat. Heat can cause salt in partially soluble seasoning, then drying back and forming lumps.

2. Packaging leaks

Plastic packaging instant noodles are designed to be airtight and dry. However, during the distribution or storage process, packaging may experience small scratches or invisible stabs.

If the packaging leaks, air and humidity can enter, causing the seasoning to harden and lump. Therefore, always check the condition of the packaging before cooking instant noodles.

3. Near the expiration date

The closer to the expiration date, the quality of instant noodles can decrease. Usually, the seasoning starts to clot about two months before the expiration date.

This happens because the ingredients in the seasoning, such as salt or flavoring, experience changes in texture due to storage that is too long.

Is instant noodle spices still safe to consume?

The lumpy seasoning can still be consumed as long as instant noodles have not passed the expiration date.

Before cooking, crush the lumpy spices with a spoon until it is powdered back.

However, if the seasoning is lumpy accompanied by a strange odor or color that changes, you should not be consumed.

If the instant noodles have passed the expiration date, it is better to be discarded to avoid health risks.
