JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) expert team, Epi Taufik, asked the public not to misunderstand insects as an alternative side dish of free nutritional protein (MBG).
Epi said, insect discourse was made a side dish of free nutritious food, sparked by the Head of Bgn Dadan Hindayana during Rapimnas Wanita Indonesia Raya in Jakarta, Saturday (1/25/2025).
“If you listen to, there are four standards or requirements for partners who want to cooperate with BGN, the main issue is not even revealed,” Epi said when met by the media, Friday (1/31/2025).

At that time, Dadan actually expects the Nutrition Services Fulfillment Unit (SPPG) to meet nutritional standards through food from local resources.
“Maybe in certain areas they like insects, sago caterpillars, it is indeed eaten in Papua, right, it may be part of MBG,” Epi said.
Epi explained, Dadan was citing local resources for protein and carbohydrates as a free nutritional menu to meet nutritional standards.
“So that does not mean students in Java who cannot eat it (insects), are told to eat,” he said.
The application of carbohydrates and protein in the free nutritional menu has been seen in a number of areas.
