How to get rid of fishy squid

The following is how to get rid of fishy fish when cooking squid:

1. Wash in running water

The first step to get rid of the fishy smell of squid is to wash it under running water.

This process not only helps clean stuck dirt and mucus, but also reduces the fishy smell. Here are some tips when washing squid:

  • Use running water to remove dirt more easily.
  • Carefully clean the inside of the squid’s body to remove any remaining ink and internal organs.
  • Make sure the squid is really clean before draining.

Apart from reducing the fishy smell, washing squid in running water also helps prevent cross-contamination between squid and other food ingredients.

2. Soak the squid with natural ingredients

After the squid is clean, the next step is to soak it in natural ingredients such as lime juice or milk.
