Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena was officially elected as Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after winning the 2024 elections. He paired with Johni Asadoma and won 37.33 percent votes.

Melki Laka Lena was officially inaugurated as the Governor of NTT for the 2025-2030 period by President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday (2/20/2025). With a background in the field of pharmacy and long experience in the world of politics and organizations, Melki is expected to be able to bring change to NTT.

In the legislative field, he was once a team of expert chairman of the Golkar Party Faction of the DPR-RI (2012-2013) and the Special Staff of the Speaker of the DPR-RI (2014-2018). Not only in politics, Melki is also active in the field of education as chairman of the Saint Mary’s College Foundation. He was later elected as a member of the Indonesian Parliament in the 2019 Pileg.

In the 2019 Legislative Election (Pileg), he was elected as a member of the Indonesian Parliament from the electoral district (Dapil) NTT II and served in Commission IX in charge of health, employment, and population.

As an elected governor, Melki is faced with various challenges, including improving the welfare of the community, strengthening the education and health sector, and optimizing the potential of tourism and creative economy in NTT. With his experience and commitment, it is hoped that he can bring positive changes to the area famous for its natural beauty and cultural wealth.

NTT has a big challenge, ranging from high levels of poverty, food security, to access to health and education services that are not evenly distributed. In addition, the development of infrastructure and sustainable use of natural resources is also an important agenda for its leadership.
