Jakarta –
Pizza is often avoided when on a diet, because it is high in calories. This nutrition expert provides tricks for eating low-calorie pizza that still tastes delicious.
Originating from Italy, pizza is also popular in various countries. Flat round bread dough is topped with cheese, sauce, mushrooms and processed meat. That’s why it’s often called high-calorie.
Quoting the Times of India, pizza is known to contain high levels of saturated fat, due to the presence of cheese and processed meat. If consumed too much or often, it can increase blood cholesterol levels, which is at risk of triggering heart disease.
According to calories.info, one serving of pizza of around 100 grams contains quite high calories. For cheese pizza it is 1,212 kcal and chicken pizza 972 kcal.
However, there is a nutritionist from India who has a different view about consuming pizza as a diet menu. According to him, pizza is not a food that should be avoided when on a diet, as quoted from NDTV (31/12).

Nutrition expert, Nmami Agarwal on her Instagram account revealed, “Are you one of those who avoid pizza because you think pizza is bad or it can make you gain weight? Actually, pizza is not the problem.”
Nmami emphasizes that weight loss is not just about restricting food. However, you also have to balance it with a healthier lifestyle. According to him, weight loss is not just about limiting yourself.
So pizza doesn’t need to be avoided when losing weight, because there are other things that are more important. Dieters should focus on creating a balanced and sustainable approach. Don’t just cut back on your favorite foods.
So, if you want to keep eating a healthier version of pizza, replace the toppings with healthier choices. For example, by making your own pizza at home.
Dieters can use olive oil when soaking the dough and replace wheat flour with gluten-free flour. For the mozzarella cheese topping, you can replace it with paneer, a soft or fresh cheese made from cow or buffalo milk.
So that it does not contain high levels of saturated fat, processed meat can also be replaced with sliced mushrooms, fresh basil leaves or cauliflower and broccoli. Even though it uses lower calorie ingredients, it still tastes delicious.
