However, Business Insider (9/7/24) said there were health threats that experts noticed in detox juice. The way this detox juice works is that consumers are not allowed to consume any food.
There are around 8 juice concoctions that will be on the menu to be consumed within 24 hours. Seeing this phenomenon, Dr. Kaveh Hoda, a gynecologist and liver health expert, said that not all detox methods are safe.
Hoda further said that juice and tea, or any drink, which is believed to detoxify the body has worrying ingredients. There are components that are said to weaken the body’s ability to detox its own organs.
In some cases, juice detox causes symptoms such as stomach ache, vomiting, and diarrhea, which have bad effects. Hoda also emphasized that there may be added hidden sugars that actually don’t really help the detox process.

“It sounds like what they’re doing is collecting water with very little nutrients. And that’s not something we (nutrition experts) recommend,” said Hoda.
As a specialist in heart and liver health, Hoda said the human liver has 50 functions. One of them is by cleaning or detoxifying toxins that enter the body.
Therefore, it is feared that relying on low nutritional intake will disrupt the balance of intake that should be met in a day. This also refers to the function of the liver which every day will endlessly filter all nutrients from food and drink that enter the body.
Like when consuming alcohol, the body actually immediately filters it and separates the nutrients that can be absorbed or considered as poison. Hoda recommends consuming balanced nutritious foods with nutrients that help liver function, such as nuts and omega 3 foods.
