KOMPAS.com – During Chinese New Year celebrations, Chinese people usually visit relatives’ homes to strengthen the family.
A variety of dishes are usually served, including basket cakes, nastar, and various snacks for dessert.
One snack that can be made at home as a treat during Chinese New Year is Ambon banana cake.

Ambon banana cake ingredients:
- 4 egg yolks
- 125 grams of palm sugar
- 75 grams of butter
- 100 grams Ambon banana (mashed)
- 100 grams chocolate chips
- 180 grams wheat flour (sift)
- 20 grams cornstarch (sift)
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder (sift)

How to make Ambon banana cake:
1. Beat the eggs with palm sugar until dissolved, then add the sifted flour, cornstarch and baking powder mixture little by little. Stir the mixture until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
2. Add the butter and Ambon banana, then stir until evenly mixed. Add chocolate chips and stir again until evenly mixed.
3. Pour the mixture into a 12×18 centimeter baking pan which has been lined with baking paper and smeared with margarine. Then bake the cake in the oven at 160 degrees Celsius until cooked, then remove and cut into pieces.
