Researchers Find Good Bacteria in Coffee for the Been of the Intestine

Research published in Nature Microbiology revealed the existence of good bacterial content in coffee, as reported by Food and Wine (09/03/25). Here’s the fact!

In this study, the researchers analyzed feces samples of 22,867 participants to understand the impact of coffee on intestinal bacteria.

They categorize participants into three groups, namely the ‘never drinking coffee’, the ‘coffee drinker’ group, and the ‘heavy coffee drinker’ group.

The researchers found that coffee drinkers have high levels in one type of bacteria, namely L. Asaccharlyticus.

The results show that drinking coffee can have a positive effect on the intestine that will help the growth of good bacteria.

2. The importance of intestinal health

Clinical professor at the University of Chicago and Chief of Scientific Staff at Endeavor Health Michael Caplan, MD said that microbiomas in the intestine are very important.

“Good bacteria in our intestines are very important for our overall health, and having a variety of microbiomas is very important,” said Michael Caplan.

According to him, a healthy intestine can help prevent diarrhea caused by antibiotics, and can even play a role in overcoming obesity, heart disease, and chemotherapy products.

The intestine also accommodates most of the immune cells, so it is very important to protect and maintain its strength. A healthy intestine also supports digestion, reducing inflammation, and affecting our minds.
