Jakarta –
During Ramadan, cholesterol levels may surge because of the habit of breaking the fast using fried foods. To overcome this, try consuming the fruit written in the Koran.
Indonesians are fond of eating fried foods when breaking the fast. In terms of health, this is less recommended because fried food contains trans fat which can make cholesterol levels soaring.
Uncontrolled high cholesterol can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, such as heart attacks. Data from the Ministry of Health shows that cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes are the leading causes of death in Indonesia, claiming nearly 800,000 lives each year.

One way to maintain cholesterol in normal levels is to eat healthy foods. Interestingly, there are two names of fruit mentioned in the Holy Qur’an which was proven scientifically able to reduce cholesterol levels.
Here are 2 fruits in the Koran that have the property to reduce high cholesterol:

Olives are mentioned seven times in the Koran. This shows how important the fruit is in the history of the development of Islam. Olives not only have nutritional values, drugs and cosmetics, but also fulfill the function of religion as a sign of the greatness of Allah SWT.
In Surah Al Mu’minun verse 20, the Koran tells about fruits that must be eaten, and talk about olive trees that grow on Mount Sinai that provide oil and seasoning to be eaten.
High blood cholesterol and blood pressure both are a risk factor for heart disease.
Olive fruit contains oleic acid which is associated with an improvement in heart health. This substance can regulate cholesterol levels and protect LDL (bad) cholesterol from oxidation.
In addition, several studies note that olives and oil can reduce blood pressure.
Olives are also rich in antioxidants, which are useful for fighting inflammation to reduce the growth of microorganisms.
2. Tin or fig fruit

The Koran has surah at-tin which means tin. In fact, God swores in the name of Tin fruit and also olive fruit.
Tin References in the Qur’anic Verses Talk about the benefits of the drug from the fruit. In the Islamic tradition, whatever the name is used to swear by God has the greatness or interests attached to it.
Before sugar became popular as it is now, Tin fruit is widely used as a natural sweetener.
Tin or figs contain pectin, soluble fiber which helps reduce cholesterol levels. Soluble fiber removes excessive triglyceride levels and helps eliminate triglycerides.
This fruit is a good source of calcium and potassium. Calcium and potassium are useful to increase bone density, which in turn can prevent conditions such as osteoporosis.
