Rudi Hartono Panjaitan or familiarly called Rudi, became one of the participants of Masterchef Indonesia Season 12. He has a special mission, introducing a wider culinary typical of his homeland, North Sumatra.
According to him, even though the Batak cuisine began to be popular, there are still many authentic dishes that have not received the spotlight. Through his journey at the Masterchef Indonesia gallery, Rudi wants chefs and viewers at home to be more familiar with the delicacy of North Sumatra cuisine, especially from remote areas that may still be unfamiliar in the ears of many people.
With full enthusiasm, he was determined to present a variety of typical dishes such as Sibolga curry, arsik, napinadar, andaliman, and many more, bringing the distinctive taste of his hometown to the desks of the judges and spectators throughout Indonesia.
Work
Rudi Hartono Panjaitan, a man born in Medan, October 15, 1992, has a fairly mature experience in the culinary world. From 2009 to 2017, he worked in a restaurant in the city of Medan that served Nusantara and Oriental dishes. After that, he decided to focus on helping the family business engaged in the sale of various spices.
After his journey at Masterchef Indonesia Season 12, Rudi had a big dream by opening his own restaurant that carries the culinary archipelago, especially the Batak cuisine. Not only wanting to preserve the authentic taste, Rudi is also determined to present innovations by serving halal Batak restaurants-a concept that is still rarely found, given the many Batak Lapo which serves non-halal menus. With enthusiasm and dedication, Rudy hopes to introduce the culinary wealth of North Sumatra to more people.
Chef inspiration
Rudi so idolized Chef Juna. According to him, the firmness of Chef Juna actually became a spirit of enthusiasm for him. When watching Masterchef Indonesia from season one, Rudi so admired Chef Juna’s attitude that was so firm, that it made the participants mentally stronger and try to present the best dishes.
Motto
Whatever is in front of us, do the best, any challenges, give the best.
