Foods to Avoid When Enjoying Durian

However, enjoying durian requires paying attention to the right food combination.

1. Avoid consuming Durian with meat

According to VN Express, Dr. Huynh Tan Vu from Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital said that certain types of meat such as beef, lamb and seafood are not recommended to be consumed with durian.

Durian contains high levels of sugar, fat and potassium, while the flesh is rich in protein and saturated fat.

This combination can increase cholesterol suddenly and pose a risk to heart health.

2. Spicy foods can reduce the enjoyment of durian

Durian has “hot” properties in traditional medicine.

When combined with spicy foods such as chili, garlic or ginger, discomfort can occur, such as a sensation of excessive heat in the body. Apart from that, the typical sweet taste of durian can be disturbed.

3. Coffee and Durian, a combination to avoid

The combination of durian and coffee can cause digestive problems and bad breath.

4. Durian and Alcohol, a Dangerous Combination

This combination can also be dangerous for people with diabetes and hypertension, triggering headaches, fast heartbeats, and even stroke.

5. Don’t mix durian with soft drinks

Durian consumed with fizzy drinks can cause gas pressure in the stomach.

This makes the stomach feel bloated and uncomfortable, and in certain cases can even cause serious digestive problems.
