KOMPAS.com – Cilok is a savory snack with a chewy texture, usually enjoyed with sauce or peanut sauce. This snack is known to originate from Bandung, West Java.
No need to go all the way to Bandung to buy this snack. Because, you can make it at home with simple ingredients.
The following is the recipe and how to make chewy cilok, reported by Delicious Dish via Kompas.comMonday (8/2/2021).

Material:
- 200 grams of sago flour (can be replaced with tapioca flour/starch)
- 125 grams of medium protein wheat flour
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
- ¼ teaspoon powdered chicken stock
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 stalks celery leaves (thinly sliced)
- 250 milliliters water (boil)
Peanut sauce ingredients
- 100 grams peanuts (fried)
- 2 cloves garlic (fried)
- 1 large red chili (fried)
- 2 curly red chilies (fried)
- 500 milliliters of water
- 1¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon vinegar
- Mix sago flour, wheat flour, garlic, chicken stock, salt and celery leaves. Stir until evenly mixed.
- Pour the hot water little by little into the flour mixture while kneading until the dough can be kneaded.
- Take a little dough, then shape it into a small ball the size of a teaspoon.
- Boil the dough balls in boiling water until they float. Lift and drain.
- Peanut sauce. Puree the fried peanuts, garlic and chilies.
- Put the mashed ingredients into the pan. Add water, salt and sugar.
- Cook over medium heat until thickened. Add vinegar and mix well.
- Serve cilok with peanut sauce, if you want it sweeter, add sweet soy sauce.
