BJ Habibie’s 3 Favorite Snacks, There is Barongko which is Deliciously Sweet

1. Barongko

Barongko, BJ Habibie’s snack, is a traditional Makassar snack made from kepok bananas, coconut milk, eggs and sugar.

Bananas are mashed and mixed with other ingredients, then wrapped in banana leaves and cooked by steaming.

It tastes sweet and legit. Barongko is made from yellow kepok banana as the main raw material, which provides a soft texture and a sensation of a combination of savory and sweet flavors.

2. Es Pallu Butung

BJ Habibie’s favorite ice since he was young comes from Bugis land. Es Pallu Butung consists of a combination of marrow porridge made from rice flour, coconut milk, granulated sugar, pandan leaves and salt.

This porridge is cooked until cooked and thick, then mixed with banana and red syrup.

This dish is served cold with the addition of ice cubes, making it the perfect choice for dessert or takjil to break the fast. Es Pallu Butung is often considered similar to green banana ice from Makassar.

3. Putu Cups

Putu Cangkir, BJ Habibie’s favorite snack, is made from white and black sticky rice which is ground until quite smooth, then mixed with brown sugar.

The shape resembles an inverted cup, with the middle filled with grated coconut. This mixture is then put into a funnel-shaped container before being steamed in a special steamer.

It tastes deliciously sweet and melts in your mouth. This cake is usually served late at night or early in the morning.
