Strong, healthy bones are important for overall quality of life. However, in winter, when temperatures drop drastically, maintaining healthy bones is a bit difficult.
These weather conditions often increase joint inflammation and this is certainly uncomfortable. Joint pain can be worse if you eat the wrong foods.
The reason is that there are several foods that are suitable for consumption during winter, but their effects can worsen joint pain. Quoted from Times Now News (11/01/25) here are 5 foods that should be avoided.

Processed meats such as sausages, bacon and salami can cause joint pain. That’s because processed meat contains preservatives such as nitrates.
Nitrates are formed when protein and fat are added to sugar during cooking and can trigger oxidative stress and inflammation. Well, inflammation is what causes joint pain.
Apart from that, meat also contains advanced glycation (AGEs) which can trigger inflammation. Especially if red meat is grilled or fried.
2. Refined carbohydrates
Refined carbs or processed carbohydrates are carbohydrates that have gone through a series of processing processes, thereby losing their fiber, vitamin and mineral content.
Refined carbohydrates are found in many foods such as white bread and pastries. These foods are rich in high glycemic index.
This can cause a spike in blood sugar which ultimately causes inflammation. This condition can affect joints and weight gain.
