Recipe for Tempeh Penyet with Basil Basil, Serve with Fresh Vegetables


KOMPAS.com – Lunch with the family at home would be incomplete if it wasn’t accompanied by appetizing spicy chili sauce.

One of the chili sauces that is easy to make is basil chili sauce, complete with fried tempeh penyet. Apart from being accompanied by side dishes and warm white rice, don’t forget to add fresh vegetables as a complement.

Ingredients for tempeh with basil chili sauce:

  • 400 grams tempeh (sliced ​​1 centimeter)
  • 1 small bunch basil (leaves picked)
  • Fine salt and granulated sugar to taste

Stir fry seasoning:

  • 4 red onions (roughly sliced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (rough slice)
  • 10 red cayenne peppers
  • 10 green cayenne peppers
  • 1 centimeter galangal

How to make tempeh penyet with basil sauce:

1. Heat oil in a frying pan then fry the tempeh until cooked, but not too dry, then remove and drain.

2. Heat three tablespoons of cooking oil, then saute the spices until wilted, then remove from heat and pour into the pestle along with the sautéing oil. Add fine salt and granulated sugar to taste, then grind coarsely.

3. Prepare a serving mortar, place the fried tempeh and ground spices on top. Add basil leaves when ready to serve.
