5 Drinks that are Good to Consume to Sleep More Soundly


KOMPAS.com – Certain drinks can promote better sleep, calming the mind and body.

Experts recommend that adults aged 18-60 get at least seven to nine hours of sleep each night.

Too little or too much sleep is linked to an increased risk of depression, diabetes, heart disease and even death.

1. Almond milk

Almond milk is an alternative to cow’s milk for lactose intolerant people.

Almond milk contains hormones and minerals that can improve sleep. Includes tryptophan, melatonin, and magnesium.

In fact, one glass (237 milliliters) of almond milk contains nearly 17 milligrams of magnesium.

In recent years, magnesium has shown potential as a treatment for insomnia, especially in older adults.

2. Banana almond smoothie

Bananas are another food that is high in magnesium, tryptophan, and melatonin.

Combining banana and almond milk in a smoothie combines tryptophan and melatonin to help reduce insomnia symptoms.

3. Peppermint tea

Peppermint has been used in traditional medicine for many years.

5. Warm milk

Milk containing tryptophan naturally increases serotonin, a neurotransmitter known for happiness and well-being.

Serotonin is a precursor to the sleep-regulating hormone melatonin. Simply put, tryptophan increases serotonin levels, which increases melatonin levels.

Melatonin can improve sleep and help combat various sleep disorders, including jet lag, sleep disorders for shift workers, and insomnia.
