How to Check Stale Milk Easily

KOMPAS.com – Milk is a food ingredient that is often consumed daily because of its high nutritional content.

However, ensuring the milk you consume is fresh and safe is very important to avoid the risk of food poisoning.

How to check whether milk is spoiled or not

Here are some simple ways to check milk freshness:

1. Check the color

Pure and fresh milk generally has a pure white color. If the color looks slightly yellow or pale white, there is a possibility that the milk is no longer safe for consumption.

To check the color more closely, pour the milk into a transparent glass and observe it under bright light. An abnormal color can be a sign that the milk has spoiled.

2. Check that the storage temperature is correct

Storage temperature greatly influences the freshness of milk. Make sure milk is always stored at a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius as recommended.

If milk is left at room temperature for too long, its quality can quickly decline. After use, immediately store the milk back in the refrigerator to maintain its durability.

3. Test with microwave

One quick way to check the freshness of milk is to use a microwave.

To do this, pour some milk into a glass container and heat it briefly in the microwave.

After that, remove the container and observe the milk. If you notice any lumps, changes in texture, or strange color, the milk is not safe to consume.

Don’t be reckless in consuming spoiled milk

As the old saying goes, it’s better to be safe than sorry. If you are unsure about the freshness of the milk, it is best to throw it away to avoid the risk of food poisoning.
