5 Ways to Store Broccoli So It Lasts Up to a Week

Unfortunately broccoli is a vegetable that spoils easily, here are tips for storing broccoli for up to a week.

1. Store in the refrigerator

A practical way to store broccoli is in the refrigerator. Avoid washing broccoli when storing it, wrap it in a plastic bag or kitchen tissue to keep it moist.

2. Avoid being in the water

The best way to store broccoli is to place the stems in water. Cut off the broccoli stems, fill the jar with water until the broccoli stems are submerged in water.

Cover the top of the broccoli with a plastic bag and store in the refrigerator. Change the water every two to three days to stay hydrated. Broccoli will keep its freshness for up to a week.

3. Freeze

If you want to store broccoli for more than a week, freezing it is the best choice. Wash and cut broccoli into florets, blanch in boiling water for two to three minutes.

After that, put it in cold water to stop the cooking process. Dry the broccoli florets and place them in a tray to freeze.

Once frozen, place in a labeled bag. Frozen broccoli will last for a month and its freshness will still last a week if processed immediately.

4. Vacuum seal

The vacuum seal removes air in the storage bag, preventing oxidation and preventing spoilage.

Storing broccoli this way, first wash and cut the broccoli florets, then vacuum in a storage bag. Can last up to a week or more.

5. Wrap in tissue

To be quick and effective, wrap the broccoli in paper towels to absorb excess moisture that can cause spoilage.

After drying, wrap the broccoli in kitchen tissue then store it in vacuum plastic and store it in the refrigerator.

This method is for storing broccoli that will be processed immediately but will still remain fresh if stored for a week.
