How to store coffee well to keep it delicious

Jakarta (ANTARA) – To maintain the quality and taste of coffee, proper storage is very important, coffee that is exposed to sunlight, air and humidity can lose its freshness and taste.

Therefore, it is important to pay attention to how it is stored so that the coffee remains in the best condition and remains delicious when brewed to accompany the day.

“To maintain its quality, coffee must be stored properly, because coffee can be exposed to a lot of exposure, to sunlight, air, humidity too, so try to store it well so that it stays fresh,” said L&D Technical Operation Kopi Kenangan Agung Dwi Saputra to ANTARA in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/12).

Agung suggested that coffee should be stored in an airtight, opaque container. A glass jar, like the ones many people use to store coffee, can be used, however, make sure the jar is tightly closed and not exposed to direct light.

“Glass jars are fine, just cover them with paper to prevent light from entering, then put them in a drawer, as long as the place is not damp,” said Agung.

Alternatively, packaging pouches with vacuum seal technology is also highly recommended. This packaging allows air to escape without letting outside air in, keeping the coffee fresher for longer.

With proper storage, the taste and aroma of coffee will be maintained, providing a more satisfying coffee experience.

Furthermore, Agung revealed the recommended coffee storage period to continue serving coffee while maintaining its best quality.

“If the coffee has been ground, the coffee will quickly oxidize because the coffee particles are open and allow air to enter,” he added.

In fact, Agung revealed that if coffee has been ground, it should be brewed for no more than 24 hours, because the longer the air is in, the faster the coffee will taste “musty”, while coffee in bean form is best stored for a maximum of one week.

“Actually, no matter how long it is stored, it can still be brewed, but the quality, aroma and taste will be reduced,” said Agung.
