6 Typical Garut Souvenirs, There are Burayot and Coffee

Garut is not only famous for its leather crafts, but also various foods and drinks that must be purchased.

1. Burayot

Almost in every corner of Garut there are burayot sellers. This bag-like snack is made from a mixture of flour and brown sugar which is fried, then hung.

The taste is sweet and sticky, with a texture similar to ring cake. The more you chew, the more the contents of the burayot stick together in your mouth.

Prices for burayot vary. Some sell packages starting from IDR 20,000, others starting from IDR 21,000.

2. Coffee

Coffee is increasingly being sold as a typical Garut souvenir. There are various types, from ground coffee to ready-to-drink coffee, so it is suitable to be enjoyed on the way home.

Garut coffee prices vary, depending on the souvenir shops and cafes visited. There are those who sell ground coffee for starting from IDR 30,000 per 100 grams, there are also those who sell ready-to-drink arrowroot coffee for starting at IDR 10,000.

One of the coffees that can be purchased is Himar’s. Three variants are available, namely The Lost Sheep with an aroma and taste that resembles fermented grapes, Merry Gloss with similar aroma and taste bourbonAnd Dark Terror whose taste and aroma resemble fermented honey. Prices start from IDR 30,000.

3. Dumplings

At first glance, ladu is similar to dodol. However, this sweet snack has a denser texture and is not as chewy as dodol.

Ladu is made from sticky rice flour, palm sugar and coconut. The shape varies depending on the manufacturer, some resemble triangles that can be cut before eating.

Prices for dumplings sold in souvenir shops start at IDR 18,000.
